Eerie coincidence?

Via Greg Pollowitz, it seems Gwen Ifill (who is under considerable scrutiny about her to-be-released-on-inauguration-day pro-Obama book, given that she is to moderate Thursday’s debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin) has taken a fall and broken her ankle.

First On TVNewser: PBS' Gwen Ifill has broken her ankle after tripping and falling down stairs at her home last night, a NewsHour insider tells TVNewser. We're told Ifill had been walking up a staircase, carrying research related to her moderating duties at Thursday's Vice Presidential debate in St. Louis, when she took a wrong step.

Wait a second.

That sounds familiar.

Wasn’t there another big name media personality who suffered a similar accident, not long before he was to make a controversial appearance?

Why yes. Yes there was.

"[Tim] Russert broke his right ankle Tuesday night while playing with his mutt, Buster the Wonder Dog. Buster and his owner were chasing each other on a stairwell inside the house when the 'Meet the Press' host -- carrying research papers and dry cleaning -- tripped and fell..."

And that was not too long before the Scooter Libby trial, for which Russert showed up on crutches for his testimony that played a central role in the trial.

Conspiracists may want to do more with this. We’ll file it under 'Eerie Coincidence'.

  2. Please tell me you're a Googlemeister of the 1st order and didn't just manage to remember Russert's mishap at precisely the right moment in time!

  3. All ankles are equal, but some ankles are more equal than others.

  4. Oh, no, I just remembered Russert on crutches at the trial. Had no idea of the similarities between the ... 'accidents'.
