I call on Obama to bow out

[VIMH: What? Are you insane? Just because he lost OH and TX? He had won 12 in a row before last night -- and he's still won something like 13 of the last 16 contests.]

No. I mean Obama should bow out...for the children!

Here's wife Michelle on the campaign trail:

But seriously, with the exception of the campaign trail and life in the public eye, I have to say that my life now is not really that much different from many of yours. I wake up every morning wondering how on earth I am going to pull off that next minor miracle to get through the day. I know that everybody in this room is going through this. That is the dilemma women face today. Every woman that I know, regardless of race, education, income, background, political affiliation, is struggling to keep her head above water. We try to convince ourselves that somehow doing it all is a badge of honor, but for many of us it is a necessity and we have to be very careful not to lose ourselves in the process. More often than not, we as women, are the primary caretakers in our households, scheduling babysitters, planning play dates, keeping up with regular doctor’s appointments; this was my week last week, supervising homework, handing our discipline. Usually we are the ones in charge of keeping the household together. I know you men, I know that you guys try to do your part, but the reality is that we’re doing it, right? (laughter and applause) Laundry, cleaning, cooking, shopping, home repairs. You know Barack has my back, he’s right there with me, feels my pain, and all that. (laughter)

If she thinks it's hard out there as the wife of a Senator and the wife of a Presidential candidate, just think of the demands of being first lady. And the strains of having your husband and your kids' father being President. If she thinks raising her family is hard now, if she thinks she can barely keep her head above water now, she in no way should think that she could make it with Barack in the White House.

Besides, in Hillary's America, she will have a village to help raise her kids.

And if there one thing we've learned from her whining, it's that Michelle needs a village to raise her kids.

Yes, Michelle needs Hillary.

For the children.

For the love of God, won't somebody think of the children!

UPDATE: Of course this New Yorker profile comes out right when I put up this post. See Geraghty at Campaign Spot for all the good stuff.

  1. attempt at being funny doesbn't work. Why? Bcause if Laura can be there for The Dummy then any woman is capable of being first lady.

  2. Michelle Obama makes a good argument that more government assistances won't make the lives of women any easier. After all, she and Barack have incomes in the top 1% of all Americans and she is still crushed down by life. If two rich lawyers cannot make a comfortable life for themselves with incomes of 450,000 a year plus book deals, why does she think a paltry few thousand a year in benefits will help poor and middle class women?

Apparently, being a women in America is such a shockingly awful existence that no amount of money can blunt the unrelenting toil and suffering.

  3. I agree with the idea. Obama has become something of a cult of personality; he makes people swoon at his rallies, he makes reporters wet their pants. If you have that kind of effect on people then their expectations are WAY too high. He can't possibly meet those expectations so he should drop out.

  4. Oh, phulzee! She is just being real, reflecting how most mothers feel at her stage in life. Success does not make daily life more simple, it makes it more challenging. She would have more help in the White House than she has right now.
The interesting question is, are we the public ready for such reality? Phony role models are a dime a dozen. We see them falter every day. She is trying to relate to her audience in a way that says to me that she is not comfortable with the idea of being put up on a false pedestal. Is that what the job of First Lady requires? Could be... Her internal conflicts with her choices and her worldly success are no different than virtually every mother I know who has a career. No news here!

  5. Actually I will one-up you and call on Obama (Michelle) to withdraw.

Then Hillary can divorce Bill and remarry Barry and we can get Hope and Experience together--at last!

  6. "She is just being real, reflecting how most mothers feel at her stage in life."

    How does their nanny feel?

  8. Poor Fred: "attempt at being funny doesbn't work. Why? Bcause if Laura can be there for The Dummy then any woman is capable of being first lady."

Fred, it must be hard be a self-loathing, angry Leftist with no place to go but Obama or Clinton. But hey, how much will any of their policies impact a half-wit like you anyways?

  9. I wonder what Michelle knows about drywall? Or GFI sockets?

Laura Bush wasn't running around before the elections pissing, moaning and whining about everything.

Perhaps before you claim some person is a "dummy" you might want to learn capitalization and spelling. Just a thought.

  11. Obama's kids are staying with Grandma, not a nanny.

  12. I completely agree. Obama needs to put the country first!

  13. I wonder what Michelle knows about GFI sockets?

She knows that by using GFI, she's less likely to loose any of her servants to electrical tragedies, and that's a good thing.

  14. I dont know there Fred. Your attempt at being stupid is working pretty well. I forget, was your MBA from Harvard or Yale?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, Fred had no problem at all displaying his stupidity, or lack of humor either. Pitiful asshats like him seem to be the biggest Yomama supporters--athletic maybe?

  16. Oh dear. Next time I promise to read the thread before posting. I was all atwitter about your instalaunche.

  17. Michelle Obama knows her audience - affluent self-absorbed white women. This theme - it's a minor miracle that I can manage to arrange play dates - is very common among this set. The exaggerated sense of entitlement, adolescent narcissism and self pity, and reflexive criticism of her husband and society are all stock elements among in this culture of women. Soon she'll be praising them for their 'bravery' in voting for her husband.

  18. "Men are worthless" - Michelle Obama, paraphrased.

I'm surprised that Ms. Obama didn't claim that she had to wipe Barack's mouth for him.

  19. My wife (army doc) just left for Iraq to help prevent hearing loss in soldiers patrolling daily against al Queda dirtbags. This after she worked full time and raised our kids while I was doing my three tours in OIF. Not a single whine from her, even once. She isn't even a US citizen, she's Canadian.
Michelle Obama isn't worthy to lick the bottom of my wife's combat boots.

  20. Why do American mothers whine so much about the difficulties of making it?
Does the average American mother have to hike her kid on her hip and sell flowers to survive?

And why is the average American father never given sympathetic consideration? Maybe he needs lessons in whining.

  21. Fred just demonstrates anew (as if it were necessary) that Leftoids have no sense of humor, in general, and none at all when someone is being funny while 'Speaking Truth to (their -- the Lefties) Power'. Thus, much like their heroes from Stalin and Mao to Pol Pot Fidel and Kim Jong-il, they find poking fun at Lefties and Lefty arguments particularly lacking in humor.
Too bad they're such easy targets, being generally asshats who beclown themselves on a regular basis.

The Left is just full of such Puritans. "That's *NOT* funny" and "Stop that immediately" are their routine responses to anything that mildly indicates what idiots they are.

  22. Maybe she can hire Hillary to watch the kids when the Obamas move into the White House. Hillary's obviously missed 1600 Pennsylvania.

  23. Yes! Obama should quit for the children (and the puppies)!

    Pretty cool hnr!

  24. Wow I feel so violated.

Single Dad, do all that crap AND have a regular job as well.

Oldest is in Law School, youngest is still in high school, four girls and a boy in the middle.

Never taken a government hand out in my life, paying for college for two out of four.

And yes they had both better drop out of the contest because once those kids hit the teenage years the work load doubles, especially if they're girls.

What a whiner, where in our Constitution is it the governments job to make life easy for us?

    Gimme a break.

  25. I am always amused when a 7th grade critic goes after President Bush, who beat two senior Democratic candidates, and graduated from Yale and Harvard.
